I thought today’s worship set was excellent. Craig was leading again this week. The band looked like this.

  • W.L. – Craig
  • Ac. Guitar – Craig
  • Drums – Kinsby
  • Bass – Zach
  • E. Guitar 1 – Pierre
  • E. Guitar 2 – Kinsby Jr.
  • Keys – Anthony
  • Front Line Singers – Nikki, Luis, Evelyn, Suni

I felt like the band was pretty locked in and the harmonies were good as well. Here is the set:

  • Always (Generations Unleashed)
  • I Am Free (New Life Worship)
  • Hosanna (I See The King) (Hillsong) [Nikki did great at leading this one. I am a little partial though :)]
  • Overcome (Desperation Band)
  • Fire (Abundant Life England)

Worship Set for Sunday January 25th, 2009

Craig was at the helm of the worship set again today. We had a rough sound check this morning but I think things panned out. Craig is officially the king of breaking guitar strings. He snapped the D during the 2nd service and then the infamous G during the third service. No problem though. The set went off well. Here’s the list

  • Blessed Be Your Name (Redman)
  • Take All The Glory (Abundant Life Church/England)
  • Mighty To Save (Hillsong)
  • A Medley of Our God Reigns (Delirious), Awesome God (Rich Mullins), Came To My Rescue (Hillsong United)

Chris Tomlin Concert

Posted in music with tags , on January 24, 2009 by anthonymccormick

Nikki and I just got back from the Chris Tomlin “Hello Love” concert. Wow, what an amazing time. We saw him at a worship conference this past summer and that was great but tonight, it was kickin’. I’ve been to plenty of concerts but this one ranks up there with the best. It wasn’t great just because the music was kickin’ and the band was tight. It was great because there was a purpose to what we were doing. It felt more like an awesome time of worship than a concert.

Israel Houghton and New Breed where there as well. He isn’t my number 1 favorite or anything but he really surprised us both. We really enjoyed him tonight. Maybe I haven’t given him a good enough chance.

A shout out to my Bellerose people, thanks for the tickets. It was a great night.

Worship Set List For Sunday January 18th, 2009

For the past week our church has been in a weeklong fast. My wife and I elected to do a Daniel fast and also observe a fast from television. Along with the fast, we had two extra services as part of the week, one last Sunday evening and the other on Friday evening. These weeks always stretch everyone on the team since more time is required of everyone so the services throughout the week go off as planned. I commend everyone on the team for all of their hard work. I can honestly say, this past week has been amazing for our church and for our people. Here’s the list from yesterday.

  • Always (Generations Unleashed) – We did this number last week and thought it would fit well this week as well.
  • Sing, Sing, Sing (Tomlin) – Wow, this song had a lot of energy in it this week. We actually haven’t pulled this one out for a while. I love the line that says, “We will sing, sing, sing, grateful that You hear us”.
  • Here In Your Presence (New Life Worship) – Been in the rotation for a while but always a great transition song
  • The Stand (Hillsong United) – We introduced just the chorus of this song last weekend and it went over great. Our people grabbed on to it so well that it actually became the anthem for our week of prayer and fasting. “I’ll stand with arms hight and heart abandoned, in awe of the One Who gave it all.” We added the verses to the song this weekend. What a great song!
  • How Great Is Our God (Tomlin) – We transitioned into a time of communion during this song.

A great end to a great week for our church. The band sounded awesome this weekend. I could really tell they were into the set this weekend. The guitars are better every week. I’m blessed to have such great musicians to work with. Great job guys. The front line and choir were great this week too. Way to be awesome with no rehearsal this week.

Sunday Set list January 11th 2009

Ok, so I’m a slacker. I’ve fallen victim to the post-Christmas exhaustion and haven’t updated my blog. Here’s to a new year though and getting back into the swing of things.

This post is a part of the worship set discussion which can be found HERE.

This week Craig led the set and I played the keys. The band was Kinsby (drums), Daniel (bass), Kinsby Jr.(electric guitar 2), Pierre (electric guitar 1) and me. We missed a few cues here and there during the first service, corrected them for the second service but then they reared their ugly heads during the third service. As I always say, it never is as bad as or as good as we think it is. Honestly, from my perspective, I think the set was great. Here is the set

  • He Lives – (Generations Unleashed) A rocking song that really wakes up the congregation and a great declaration that OUR GOD LIVES.
  • Always – (Generations Unleashed) This song is slowly becoming one of my favorite up tempo songs. The guitars really compliment one another and the verse comes down enough to really be able to focus on the lyrics.
  • Your Love Never Fails – (Chris Quilala) One of my wife’s favorite songs, so it finds it’s way onto the list often lately. It’s not fast, it’s not slow, it’s just the right tempo.
  • To Know Your Name – (Hillsong) “I know you gave the world Your only Son for us to know Your name.”
  • The Stand – (Hillsong) We added this song to our repertoire this week. All I can say is, “Wow”. Our people really locked into this one. We only did the chorus but after the great response we will be adding verses this coming week.

A great weekend. I’m glad Craig threw in “The Stand”. That’s definitely a keeper. I’ve found that it’s not very often that we do a song the first time and immediately know that we want to keep it in the rotation. Great job Craig.

Little Tradition

Our Christmas Tradition

Our Christmas Tradition

Nikki and I went to the french cafe we have gone to, now for the past 4 years, either on Christmas eve or close to it. This year, we had to go a bit earlier than normal because we will be out of town on Christmas eve for the first time since we moved to NYC. The place actually has two locations in Manhattan so we alternate each year. It’s nice to have little traditions even when there’s only two of us. It’s a small thing but something that I look forward to each year now. The food is good, the atmosphere is nice but most of all I know it’s time that I’m going to get to spend uninterrupted time with Nikki. We don’t get that enough.

Whenever we decide to have kids I’m sure some traditions will have to be adapted to include the little people but for now, this is a neat little thing that I always anticipate every Christmas.

Sunday Set List 12.14.08

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , on December 15, 2008 by anthonymccormick

It was a good weekend. We had our Music/Media Dept. Christmas party Saturday night so some were a little late for their call time but none too bad. The party was a lot of fun. Nikki (my lovely wife) did a great job planning it. The people all came together and got tickets for Nikki and I to go see Chris Tomlin and Isreal Houghton just over the river into NJ in January. That was a GREAT surprise.

Our list this weekend wasn’t incredibly difficult but I thought the songs came together really well. We had 5 songs rehearsed but just couldn’t get to the 5th one within the time we had for worship. That’s what having 3 services back to back will get you though. Oh well. Here’s the list:

  • Always (Generation Unleashed) – We added this song to the rotation last week and it’s a keeper. Very nice opener. Kinsby Jr. did really well with that Electric Guitar Wailing 🙂
  • My Savior Lives (New Life) – Been in the rotation for a while but a great song to jump in to from a fast song. We ended “Always” on a 4 and the drums went straight into the rhythm for “My Savior Lives”. Nice transition . Pierre (lead guitar) just had to sync with the drums and then it was off to the races.
  • Jesus Messiah (Chris Tomlin) – The song has really grown on me. I can say, I Love It and think our congregation does too. Lyrically and melodically it’s a simple song with a great message.
  • Overcome (Desperation Band) – Vamped on a 1 from “Jesus Messiah”, drummer clicked “Overcome” and Kinsby Jr. (electric guitar) went into the intro. Time wise, this song can go on forever. This song is the reason we never got to the last song on the list but that’s ok, this song needs time to let it develop. Another great song with a great message that really challenges us to celebrate the testimony that God has given us and to not look at our past failures a blemishes on our lives but something that Christ has washed away with His blood and turned it around to work for good. Awesome song.

Great set list this week. Next week…Christmas songs. AAAHHHHHH!!!!!
