Sunday Set List 11.30.08

This post is part of the worship set list discussion, which can be found HERE.

With the holiday shortened week, like many other worship teams out there, we were going off of a short rehearsal. My parents came into town on Wednesday evening. After picking them up from the airport it was back to the church for an abbreviated rehearsal. The set this week had songs that were familiar with some easy transitions so we wouldn’t need much time to nail the set down and get home to enjoy the holiday.

We have three services. Now and then a list will just not flow in the first service and we’ll make a change for the following two services. I’d say that happens once every 3 months or so. Well, this was one of those weeks.

Here is the list:

1st service

  • Today Is The Day (Lincoln Brewster | Paul Baloche) – This song has been a good starter for us in the last couple of months but just fell flat this week. It just seemed slow and when we upped the tempo a bit it seemed too fast. I guess it was just one of those unexplained things. We tossed this for the next two services.
  • Sing, Sing, Sing (Tomlin, Chris | Reeves, Jesse | Gilder, Matt | Carson, Daniel | Nunn, Travis)We’ve done this song for the past couple of weeks. I think it’s a keeper. I didn’t really like it the first listen but have really started to like it. It’s an easy song for the congregation to sing as well. That’s always a plus.
  • Hosanna (Praise is rising) (Baloche, Paul | Brown, Brenton) - Can’t go wrong with this song. It’s a great opener, which is why we opened with it for the 2nd and 3rd service.
  • Nothing But The Blood (Lowry, Robert) - Great hymn that everybody knows and a great setup song for the next song.
  • Hosanna (I see the King of Glory) (Brooke Fraser) - Nikki (my wife) led this song. She always does and wonderful job at leading. I’m not just saying that because she’s my wife either. She has a great voice. The bridge on this song is awesome.

2nd & 3rd Service

  • Baloche, Paul | Brown, Brenton) - Better as an opener today.
  • I Am Free (Egan, Jon) - Much better flow into Sing, Sing, Sing.
  • Sing, Sing, Sing (Tomlin, Chris | Reeves, Jesse | Gilder, Matt | Carson, Daniel | Nunn, Travis)
  • Nothing But The Blood (Lowry, Robert)
  • Hosanna (I see the King of Glory) (Brooke Fraser)
